L’archaia moira : une invention de Dicéarque
Résumé
It is generally agreed that the sources for Herakleides Lembos’ On Constitutions were the many
Constitutions composed by Aristotle and his pupils. Since we do not know in what way they worked together,
it is in no way guaranteed that the Constitution of the Lacedaemonians used by Herakleides was written by
Aristotle himself. The contradiction between what he says on Sparta in the Politics and the moira-system
mentioned by Herakleides suggests the opposite view, which is supported by other evidence, especially
concerning the common meals. This would seem to lead to the only member of the Aristotelian group, to
whom authorship of the exceptionaly successful Constitution of the Lacedaemonians was ascribed in Antiquity:
Dikaiarchos of Messene.
