L'Association des artistes musiciens à Angers (1845-1939)

Abstract

Funded in 1843, the Association des artistes musiciens (AAM) was active not only in Paris, but in many cities in France. Angers was the first city to create a local commitee in order to make the relations easier with the central commitee and to encourage musicians and amateurs of Angers to join the Association. The AAM’s archives give informations about the musical life in Angers (members, concerts, masses and musical solemnities) and it’s succesive delegates are taken among the most influancial musicians in connection with other musical institutions of the city (Association artistique, conservatory, Association artistique…) The relations gradualy reduce from 1860, in part because of other musical activities organised with only local institutions, and firstly the Association artistique funded in 1877.
