al-Nasafī, Muḥammad b. Aḥmad
Résumé
The Ismā‘īlī propagandist (dā‘ī) Abu-l Ḥasan Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Nasafī (d. 333/944) is credited with the introduction of Neoplatonic philosophy into Ismā‘īlī theology. His main work, the Kitāb al-Maḥṣūl, shaped the framework of later Ismā‘īlī metaphysical and cosmological doctrines, but also raised a famous debate among Persian and Central Asian dā‘īs about the doctrinal consequences of the adoption of Neoplatonism. As a member of the Qarmaṭī movement, he held radical positions about the abolition of Islam and sharī‘a by the Mahdī, issues which were also part of the debate.
