Analysing social clusters: a cross-reading from meta-organization and social and solidarity economy theories

Résumé

Our work contributes to the understanding of the plurality of meta-organizations by the study of a form of social cluster in France, called “Pôle Territorial de Coopération Economique” (PTCE). We analyse this form as a multi-stakeholder meta-organization (Berkowitz & al., 2020; Berkowitz & Dumez, 2015) from a systematic research synthesis (Rousseau et al., 2008) based on previous studies of PTCEs. Our results highlight that understanding PTCEs questions dialogic discussions about literatures of multi-stakeholder meta-organization (Ahrne & Brunsson, 2008; Berkowitz & al., 2020; Berkowitz & Dumez, 2015) and social and solidarity economy. More broadly, our paper aims to suggests research avenues for the study of social multi-stakeholder meta-organizations (MSMOs). The discussion specifies ways to fertilize simultaneously social and solidarity economy and meta-organization theories to provide social clusters’ understandings.
