Genre et identité culturelle : un dépôt de mobilier à la Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, Les Chesnats au IXe siècle (Loiret, F) - Instrumentum, Hoarding and deposition in Europe from later prehistory to the medieval period – finds in context
Résumé
The discovery of a cremation deposit in a silo gathers two uncommon facts in early medieval western Christian
continental Europe: a cremation (secondary deposit) from the 9th century with artefacts, that can be regarded
as an intentional hoard. A multidisciplinary approach (small finds and physical anthropology) will demonstrate
how the analysis of these data can provide socio-cultural hypothesis. After a full description of the evidence, the
paper will present the archaeological discussion between the different archaeologists involved in this case. Gender
and cultural interpretations will be submitted.
