Sherdukpen Rupa. From Village to Township
Résumé
This illustrated little book (more than 100 photos, 34 drawings and numerous genelogical charts) is a study on how a village became a township. We took the opportunity provided by the case of Rupa in western Arunachal Pradesh (India), of observing how a Shertukpen village in the 1980s grew into the present-day (2023) small town. This is not the study in administration or demography that the reader might expect (and that he or she should write). It is mainly a study in houses and families and, modestly, in ‘urban development’.
