Social innovation processes in four non-metropolitan mid-mountain areas : local culture and transformative capacities
Les processus d’innovation sociale dans quatre territoires de moyenne montagne non métropolitains : culture territoriale et capacités transformatrices
Résumé
In this article, we first attempt to define the specific features of social innovations in four rural districts, based on a database of 120 initiatives. Then, we explain that the history and and the specificities of each territory do shape its social innovations. Ultimately, our text helps to understand the specific features of social innovations in this kind of space, as well as the specific trajectories of the four rural territories located far away from metropolitan areas. We can state that social innovation spatial dynamics, while born out of local context’s, are also related to networks organization. We can then corroborate the relevance of the notion of “local ecosystems of social innovations”, even if these ecosystems do keep extraterritorial components.
