Louis Boutan et la photographie sous-marine (1886-1900)
Résumé
Louis Boutan, a scholar of the nineteenth century, was the first to use photographic devices under the sea. The difficulty of access to the underwater world led him to develop cameras and lighting adapted to this environment. These experiments were conducted in the framework of the Laboratoire Arago in Banyuls-sur-Mer. This text aims to show the steps that led to the realization of his project, highlighting its main innovations, but also its limits in the field of underwater photography
