University of Haute-Alsace, 25-26/11/2021.) Strangely enough, many writers have sent letters to each other saying that they hate each other. Why so much bitterness? What does hatred bring to the letter writer, particularly in terms of style? Is writing a hateful letter simply responding to the dictates of passion and impulse? Is it not also, for the writer, cultivating, in a somewhat incongruous way, the dialogical posture and openness to otherness (even an aggressive or malevolent otherness) that seem inseparable from any creative act? These are the guiding questions of this volume.
