Œdipe, de Sophocle à Gide (via Freud?)
Résumé
“Œdipe, de Sophocle à Gide (via Freud?)” [“Œdipe, from Sophocle to Gide (via Freud?)”], Vincenzo Mazza (Ed.), André Gide et le théâtre [André Gide and Theater], Paris, Classiques Garnier, 2021, p. 219-232. (Symposium “André Gide et le théâtre” [“André Gide and Theater”], Collège d’Espagne et Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris, 07 09/12/2017.)
The aim of this article is to rethink Gide’s relationship to Sophocles on the one hand and to Freud on the other, based on an analysis of two texts: Gide’s Œdipe (1930), of course, but also the lecture entitled “De l’évolution du theâtre” [“About the Evolution of Theater”], which Gide gave on 25 March 1904 at the Libre esthétique in Brussels.
