Résumé
“La portée poétique, rhétorique et métaphysique de l’évolution des moyens de transport chez Jules Romains” [“The Poetic(al), Rhetorical and Metaphysical Significance of the Evolution of Means of Transport in Jules Romains”], David Cocksey and Jérôme Cabot (Orgs.), “Moteurs de la création” [“The Driving Forces behind Creation”], Symposium. Albi, Champollion National University Institute, 17/04/2014.
Jules Romains loved modern means of transport: cars, bicycles, aeroplanes, ocean liners. From this he deduced a modern poetry, a poetics of the novel and a metaphysics, insofar as it is when they are travelling that the characters he portrays are best able to leave their bodily prison and travel by the means of the soul alone.
