Réforme franciscaine, théologie du salut et mouvances laïques entre Elbe et Vistule au XVe siècle

Résumé

The Tractatus de confraternitate written by the minister of the Franciscan province of Saxony, Nicholas Lackman, seems to be the only autonomous text dealing specifically with spiritual confraternity, a practice that is nonetheless very old in Western Christianity and inseparable from the rise of Benedictine monasticism and from the influence of the Mendicant and Hospitaller orders at the end of the Middle Ages. Yet the only manuscript witnesses to this opus are now in Gdańsk – Nicholas Lackman's hometown – and in Wrocław – where he died in 1479. No versions have survived in the German countries. After presenting the structure and content of the treatise, this contribution attempts to explain this surprising documentary situation by relating it to the debates that agitated Franciscan reformers since the middle of the 15th century in the whole area, opposing the supporters of Observance "under the vicars" against the advocates of fidelity to the institutions of the Minor Brothers’ order. It also addresses the circumstances in which this text came into being.
