"The “Fifa World Cup 2022” in Qatar, what feedback for the hosting of the 2024 Olympic Games ?"

Hosting mega-sporting events involves significant investment for the host country, whether in terms of infrastructure with the renovation of sports equipment, road networks or hospitality. These various investments allow the host country or a city to project itself into a co-construction of living together on its territory from the application stage, then take into account the best possible optimization of the costs of hosting these events to build their legacy. In recent years, the hosting specifications are important for related mega events, some cities and / or countries no longer fear the phenomenon of “white elephants”. This paper questions the logic of hosting mega-sporting events through the case study of the Football World Cup in Qatar and its infrastructure sustainability. The objective of this paper is to provide new managerial and theoretical recommendations on mega-events and more particularly for the hosting of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The concept of mega-events is presented here to address sustainability. infrastructures, inherent public policies and the role of sports organizations in decision-making.
