Body Movements and Mind Wandering during Structured Play

Résumé

Our exploratory study is aimed to create a new methodology to study mind wandering (spontaneous and deliberate) during structured play. In particular, we are interested in taking into account body movements and mind wandering when children are involved in a structured motor games. In cognitive science literature, there is a consistent series of studies on mind wandering and micro body movements but the relationship between it and macro movements is quite unknown. Here, we present a methodology to describe the who, what, why and when mind wandering appears during play; how the game duration can facilitate the emergence of deliberate and spontaneous mind wandering and to grasp which macro movements are involved in the process.
