Introduction
Résumé
The map of France published under the direction of César-François Cassini during the second half of the 18th century is the fruit of the work of the Paris Observatory – directed by the ancestors of César-François since the end of the 17th century. This map, unique, was the subject of multiple derivatives before being downgraded by the General Staff (Etat-major) map around 1850. The colorized copy preserved by the French National Library and called "copy of the queen", was probably never under the gaze of Marie-Antoinette because it seems to have been printed at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
