From Kant to Hilbert: French philosophy of concepts in the beginning of the XXth century

Résumé

The author analyzes the French philosophy of concepts in the beginning of the 20th century proposing a kind of "tableau" of this philosophy centered on the dominant figure of Jean Cavaillès. The work of the latter remained for at least thirt years (1940-1970) a source of inspiration. The author shows how the results of axiomatics and mathematical logic developed by D. Hilbert, L.E.J. Brouwer and A. Tarski served as a reformation of Kantian epistemology and led to the placing of concept above consciousness
