Excavations were carried out in 1990 and 1991 on the Gallo-roman site of Les Soires to test the type of land use plan which was figured out from systematic prospections carried out since 1988 on the west bank of the Berre pond. The digging showed an agricultural building with a central courtyard of about 700 square metres, occupied from the first until the third century A.D., and displaying traditional building techniques of« earth and stone » partly issued from the Iron Age. The study of the everyday ware confirms the significance of the pre-roman heritage in the material culture of the inhabitants until the beginning of the 2nd century.
