Le Tractatus de confraternitate de Nicolas Lackmann (†1479) : présentation et édition
Résumé
The article offers the edition of the Treatise on Confraternity composed in Latin by the minister of the Franciscan province of Saxony Nicholas Lackmann between 1463 and 1479. The introduction portrays its author (who was at once a theologian, reformer, and pastor), describes the three manuscripts (preserved in Wrocław and Gdańsk) that convey the text of the Treatise without obscuring the problems they raise, details the internal structure of the work, and summarizes its contents. In what appears to be the only Franciscan writing exclusively on confraternity, Nicholas Lackmann defends it by providing it with a solid doctrinal justification and a normative framework. The treatise helps to appreciate its reception among the friars and the faithful, in a region close to the birthplace of Hussitism and only a few decades before the Lutheran seism.
