SEAM Intervention-Research and Academic Career

Résumé

This paper summarizes 15 years of socio-economic intervention-research and examines the links with the researcher's academic career. It illustrates the systemic value of using this type of research. It analyzes the value of socio-economic intervention-research (SEAM) in enhancing the relevance of teaching, developing managerial skills in degree management, its societal usefulness in transforming companies, the depth of analysis and conceptualization articulating fieldwork and theories, and its contribution to personal life. It shows the specific limits of this type of research, which requires a great deal of energy, commitment and time compared with other research types, which can slow down publication. It also provides a strong skills base, but requires a particular commitment on the part of the researcher. It does, however, provide a significant quantity and quality of data, as well as having a profound effect on the real transformation of organizations.
