Attributional perspectives on academic judgments

Résumé

The concept of attribution is a key term in social psychology that has stimulated intensive research in several directions. The questions raised in these studies are how the attributions influence our feelings about past events, our expectations about the future, our attitudes, our behaviors and our conceptions of ourselves, but also how they can affect the perception, the judgment and the reaction of other persons about us. In a social judgment context, communicated attributions are very important and can largely influence the judgment about oneself or about others. The authors examine the consequences of complex attributional thinking on the future performances of students.
